Why The Name Change?
In line with the sport’s international federation, International Swimming Federation (FINA) Congress, the sport of synchronized swimming was re-branded "artistic swimming" as of 2017 to better reflect the sport’s creative, expressive nature and to align it with other judged aesthetic sports like rhythmic gymnastics or figure skating.
USA Synchro has been changed to USA Artistic Swimming as of 2020.
